Centenary
In September 1909 girls attended the Boy Scouts Rally at Crystal Palace and asked if they could join in too. The Girlguiding Association will start its Centenary celebrations this September and you’re sure to read lots about our activities.
So how will we be celebrating?
Our first event was a county wide Launch Party in Cambridge on 5th September. Several of the units from our local villages attended. If you were in town that afternoon you probably found that Guides and Brownies have taken over as we all went on a big wide-game called Guide-opoly. Rainbows enjoyed fun and games at the main party site and we all had a BBQ and amazing fireworks in the evening. Click here to read about it.
If anyone can remember previous big Guiding Celebrations, or have any family history anecdotes about the early days of Guiding, we would love to hear from you.
