“Dear Miss Smith, I am pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into Hogwarts School”. 16 members of 2^nd Histon Brownies were soon packing and ready to start their weekend at Hogwarts School, otherwise known as Abbots Ripton Lodge, near Huntingdon.

On arrival at the school they were Sorted into different houses and were relieved to find that only the leaders were in Slytherin House. During the weekend, they took part in craft activities such as making bats and broomsticks and decorating candle holders, made smoothie potions, visited Hogsmeade village (and the Cinema), held a Quidditch tournament and also helped the house elves with their chores. The Brownies, aged 7 – 10 years, also enjoyed spending time together in their House groups and singing very loudly around the camp fire. Rumour has it that there was a secret midnight feast, but Professor McGonigall is quite sure that that all the girls were tucked up in bed by 10.30pm each night. By the end of the weekend every Brownie had received a Golden Snitch Award for personal achievements such as; being the first to get to sleep on Saturday night, being brave in injury, being the best at tidying up, and help in the kitchen.
